5,000 Bauchi Residents to Benefit from Free Medical Outreach
The African Center for Medical Excellence (AMCE) has commenced the provision of free medical services to at least 5,000 people in Bauchi State.
Governor Bala Mohammed flagged off the outreach at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, saying the initiative reflects his government’s commitment to inclusive governance and healthcare strengthening.
He commended the African Medical Centre of Excellence for extending advanced medical services to Bauchi, noting that the partnership would significantly reduce preventable diseases and avoidable deaths, particularly in underserved communities lacking adequate healthcare infrastructure.
Bala also assured development partners of the government’s full support and directed the State Ministry of Health and Human Services to integrate the programme into the state’s healthcare framework to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.
The outreach offers specialist consultations, diagnostic screenings, and cardiovascular assessments.
Earlier speaking, AMCE Programme Lead, Brian Deaver, emphasized early disease detection’s importance.
The commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, said a team of 40 medical professionals is currently supporting the state’s healthcare personnel.
According to her, patients requiring specialized treatment have already been referred to advanced medical centres for further care.
The initiative was organized by the Bauchi State Government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, in collaboration with the African Medical Centre of Excellence and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
