Eid-El-Kabir is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world observe this event.
This year’s celebration will be muted as lockdown remains in place for many countries and the risk of new waves of coronavirus remains high.
Many Muslims across the world are getting used to the idea that this year’s celebration will be unlike any other.

According to Daily Times, here are 5 things that coronavirus has done to 2020 Eid-El-Kabir celebration;
1. SALLAH PARTIES
One of the highlights of Eid-El-Kabir is the parties that come with it. Muslims are known to kill rams and cows, gather and celebrate with family and friends. This has been greatly affected as there are strict rules on gatherings to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
2. PRAYERS
Muslims gather to pray every sallah morning before killing rams. This will be affected as well. Religious gatherings are still banned and Eid-El-Kabir is not an exception.
3. DRESSING
Festivals come with new attires, shoes, bags etc as people look forward to visiting friends. Children look forward to this eagerly. People may still dress up for the occasion but it is no news that this will not be as it used to be in previous years.
4. VISIT TO EATERIES
To celebrate festivals, families visit eateries to enjoy sumptuous meals and have access to varieties of food.
Obviously, kitchens at home will have more visits.
5. VISIT TO AMUSEMENT PARKS
Before now, amusement parks have tons of visitors during festivals. The pandemic has made this a thing of the past as the doors to amusement parks have been closed to customers.
Amidst all of these, it is important that we adhere to the safety rules.
Happy Celebrations!
