The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of five officers and injured two others in a violent ambush by suspected Fulani bandits in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area, on November 22, 2025.
A press release made available to newsmen on Sunday evening by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil mentioned the fallen officers to include DSP Ahmad Muhammad, ASP Mustapha Muhammad, Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, Inspector Idris Ahmed, and Corporal Isah Muazu.
According to CSP Wakil, the attack occurred during an intelligence-led patrol aimed at curbing farmer-herder conflicts.
He said reinforcements led by DPO SP Auwalu Ilu rescued the injured and evacuated the bodies to Darazo General Hospital.
“Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators. The Command will ensure justice,” said Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who visited the scene and condoled with the families of the deceased.
“The task is tough, but we remain fierce and relentless in securing lives and property,” the statement added.
The command urged the public to cooperate as it hunts for the attackers.
