4 FUTO undergraduates die after sex romp

Authorities of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) have said the university would not be in a hurry to claim the students who died in the suspected group sex in Ihiagwa in Owerri West Local Government Imo state as the students of the institution until investigations were concluded.
The affected three male undergraduates of the university were found dead at Sunshine Castle Lodge, off campus hostel in Umuchima at Ihiagwa Community, Owerri North Local Government Area on Tuesday, during an alleged group sex with one female student of the same university
The female student was as of the time of filing this report, reportedly unconscious at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.
It was gathered that the four students were reported to have taken a mixture of tramadol, codeine, vodka and India hemp before engaging in the sex romp.
Furthermore, it was that the two male students reportedly died instantly while the third male died in the hospital while the female student was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerrii where she is currently on life support.
According to sources, the four affected students were found naked, with one clutching a bathing soap in his hand and another lying on top of the female student.
The police Spokesman in Imo state, Orlando Ikeokwu, told newsmen that the police recovered two male corpses, Tramadol tablets and Indian hemp from the scene of what appeared to be a group sex at the students’ lodge.
According to him, the police officers also rescued two unconscious persons; a man and a young lady from the scene. He said preliminary investigation showed that the deceased collapsed and died allegedly while having group sex with the female student.
The police spokesperson, who gave the names of the dead students as Ugochukwu and Uche (other names withheld), said the incident happened at Sunshine Lodge located at Ihiagwa, near university’s campus and that the students were suspected to have used sex-enhancing drugs.
He added that police operatives who evacuated the corpses and took two others to hospital also recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Tramadol from the scene of the incident.
“On April 2, information was received from the caretaker of Sunshine Lodge in Ihiagwa, Owerri, that students at Federal University of Technology, Owerri — Ugochukwu, Richard, and Uche, 27, were engaged in a sex romp with one Onyinyechi (surname withheld) also a student of the same university.
“Police detectives from Nekede division promptly mobilized to the scene and found the four individuals completely naked and unconscious. The police operatives recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Tramadol at the scene
“The victims were immediately conveyed to the Police clinic and two of them, namely Ugochukwu and Uche were certified dead by the medical doctor on duty.
“The corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, for an autopsy, while Richard and Onyinyechi whose condition is yet to stabilize have been referred to the FMC, Owerri for further medical attention.
“The families of the deceased have been contacted, while the condition of the surviving persons is still being closely monitored,” the police image –maker added.
However, FUTO’s Public Relations Officer, Uche Nwelue, said that the university was aware of the incident, but that it was still investigating to confirm if the victims were students of the institution.
She said for now, the university cannot claim that the deceased were its students “because our internal investigation is ongoing.
For instance, now we have got their names and we are looking to get their registration numbers and if that matches with their names, we will now make an official statement.
“Remember that in the lodge where the students lived, there are students of other institutions. That’s why we need to find out if they are actually FUTO students before talking to the press,” Nwelue said.
