2027: Zaar Youths in Politics proposes Ex-Speaker Dogara for Vice President
A group, Zaar Youths in Politics, has proposed former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara, as the vice presidential running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 general elections.
The group in a press release over the weekend, expressed believe that Dogara is the most strategic and balanced candidate for the position, citing his ability to promote national unity, inclusivity, and democratic stability.
Signed by Barr. Christopher M. Bogoro, the group said Dogara’s candidacy aligns with Nigeria’s historical pattern of balanced tickets, which have inspired stability and inclusivity.
“His Christian background and Northern roots could help restore balance in governance, de-escalate religious anxieties, and reinforce constitutional secularism”, the group observed.
They said Dogara’s experience in governance, legislative expertise, and consensus-driven leadership style is a factor that makes him a strong complement to President Tinubu’s profile.
The group explained that Tinubu–Dogara ticket would practically reflect Nigeria’s plural identity, ensures inclusivity, promote sense of belonging, strengthen democratic legitimacy, restore political balance as well as enhance healthy electoral competitiveness.
They observed that chosing Yakubu Dogara as Vice President by President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections would be an act of statesmanship which the President is well known for, not sentiment.
According to the group, chosing Dogara as vice presidential running mate to president Tinubu will also be a decision rooted in history, guided by reason, and inspired by hope and desire for a united and progressive Nigeria in consonance with the current nationwide need of Nigerians.
The group’s endorsement came amid calls for a Muslim-Christian, South-North ticket combination in the ruling party.
