2027: Group Disowns Endorsement Of Oshiomhole, says Edo North senate seat is turn of Owan
A popular socio-cultural group in Edo North Senatorial district, Owan Conscience has disowned the purported endorsement of Senator Adams Oshiomhole for a second term in the National Assembly by some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owan East Local Government Area.
In a well-attended press conference addressed on Thursday in Benin by Chairman of Owan Conscience, Hon. Richard Ofen-imu, the group said the endorsement is yet another painful and sad reminder of the persistent and wicked political plot to marginalize the Owan People, who have in recent been treated as spectators rather than stakeholders in the politics, governance of Edo North.
His words:”the purported endorsement by a group of few APC members, who claim to be leaders in Owan East is laughable and is insensitive as it ignores the long-standing demand for justice, equity, fairness and inclusive representation. Owan East and Owan West LGAs have competent, credible and capable sons and daughters, who are eminently qualified to represent Edo North in the Senate. Continually denying Owan People this opportunity in the last 20 years reinforces the perception that our communities are politically expendable
“Owan Conscience strongly believes that justice in representation is the foundation of peace,unity and sustainable development.Any political arrangement that perpetuates exclusion and domination cannot foster genuine progress.
The decision by APC in Owan East to endorse a second term bid for the Senate seat in Edo North without consideration for the overall interest of Owan is a betrayal of the collective aspiration of our people
Continuing, Ofen-imu said,” in terms of performance, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has no visible projects in Owan land that we know of beyond sharing of bags of rice, fertilisers and few motor cycles during the Yuletide in spite of the huge financial allocation for constituency projects in the senate. One begins to wonder whether the likes of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and our very distinguished Senator are in the same upper chambers.
“We can clearly say that in almost three years in the senate, the Owan nation has not felt the representation of Oshiomhole. It has been a disastrous performance. We are ready to go on a tour of Owan East and Owan West LGAS with Comrade Oshiomhole in order for him to provide the ocular proof of the projects he has facilitated in Owan. The Owan Conscience believes in the oneness, unity, equality and peaceful coexistence of all“, Ofen-imu posited.
