2027: Asari Dokubo declares support for Tinubu, hails Wike’s visit to Degema
The Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area, Rivers State, Asari Dokubo, has officially pledged his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, committing to back the president for a second term.
The pledge came on Tuesday during a visit to Dokubo’s palace by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who was on a thank-you tour of communities in Rivers State.
Dokubo praised Wike for the visit and explained that his support for Tinubu is personal, noting that the president had stood by him during a difficult period in his life.
“Like you said, my friend, everything that is going to happen, I will be with you in making sure that my friend, the President succeeds.
“Everything that I am capable of doing, I will do to make sure that he succeeds. I was not a traditional ruler when we met in 1992. I never thought I would ever become what I am today.
“He stood by me in my most difficult period, and it is now my turn to also stand by him and also support him.” He said
Earlier, Wike said the purpose of his visit was to thank the people for their support and to explain why backing Tinubu in 2027 would benefit the community.
He also took the opportunity to wish residents a happy new year and expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received from the monarch.
“I know that traditional rulers don’t play politics. You are my friend and I felt that there’s no way I would come here, where you reside, and your kingdom without coming to greet you and to say Happy New Year,” the minister said.
