2027: APC ‘ll Win At All Levels, Says Obasanjo’s Daughter
The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate in Ogun State, 2027 election, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has declared that the ruling party will win the forthcoming election at all levels.
Senator Iyabo, daughter of former President and Military Head of State, Gen Olusegun Obasanjo, Rtd, made this known on Monday, while addressing journalists at the party National Seretary, Abuja after a visit to the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.
She said though, her father was not behind her political sojourn to the APC, he would vote for her at the polls, if she emerge the party’s candidate.
She said: “He, Obasanjo, is not part of my coming here today, it is my personal decision but, he is another citizen that will vote for me. “They know me for my grassroots work in the State. We will make APC, winning party in the State and I will be the candidate, by God’s grace.
“When I left active politics, the people that reached out to me are now, currently in APC. So it is personal. If you are not, why would I join a party that people did not care about me to say, how are you, What are you doing now?
“So he has not presented me any platform and like I said, I made an informed decision to choose APC. And the reason I chose APC is personal to me. “For me, I’m joining the ticket, the race, because I think it’s open. Nothing is impossible. I don’t think there is a foregone. I’ve been in politics, so, I am not naive.
“Like I said, my father will vote for me, I know, but other than that, he is not part of my movement. He is not anything other than he will vote in the State, and hopefully, I will be his Governor.
Senator Iyabo strongly stated that it is her personal decision to join the APC and contest the State Governorship election stressing that; “as a politician, she is relatively, close to all, even in other parties.
“They are now in different parties, but most of the people that I had positive experiences with are now in APC, so, this has nothing to do with my father,” she added.
