2026: Abbas, Kalu Urge Nigerians to Renew Hope, Embrace Unity

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and his deputy, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, have urged Nigerians to embrace hope, unity and resilience as the country ushers in the New Year 2026.
In a New Year message issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Abbas called on Nigerians to remain steadfast and optimistic despite the challenges of the outgoing year.
He noted that 2025, though demanding, recorded notable gains in governance and national security, with security agencies intensifying efforts to restore peace across the country.
The Speaker commended Nigerians for their resilience, describing it as a driving force behind the nation’s continued progress, urging citizens across all faiths, regions and political divides to work together in building a peaceful and prosperous country.
“In every new dawn lies a promise,” Abbas said, assuring Nigerians of the House of Representatives’ commitment to enacting people oriented laws that would promote economic stability, inclusiveness and national security in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
He further expressed confidence that the nation would transform present challenges into opportunities for growth, wishing Nigerians a peaceful, productive and hopeful New Year.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu described 2026 as a year of “hope and endless possibilities,” urging citizens to remain united and optimistic as the nation moves forward.
In a New Year message, Kalu thanked God for guiding the country through the past year and called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to channel their collective strength toward national development.
“As we step into this new year, I extend warm wishes to all Nigerians. This year holds endless possibilities, hope, and promise. Let us harness our collective energy to build a nation where every citizen thrives,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the President Bola  Tinubu led administration to good governance, economic recovery and improved security, assuring Nigerians that their aspirations remain a top priority.
“We hear your aspirations, we see your challenges, and we are working tirelessly to deliver solutions. We will not fail you,” Kalu stated, expressing optimism that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges and achieve sustainable growth.
Both leaders wished Nigerians a peaceful, prosperous and fulfilling New Year.
