2021 Gov’ship poll: Anambra South must produce next Gov – Chigbo

Reactions have continued to trail the preparation for the oncoming Anambra State Governorship election.

The election for Governorship poll has been slated to take place in November 2021, marking the end of Governor Obiano’s second term in office.

This has continued to generate opinions from prominent personalities in the state, vis-a-viz the zone that will produce the next Governor.

It is on record that Anambra State has three geopolitical zones – Anambra North, Anambra South, and Anambra Central.

Governor Obiano, who is from Anambra North, will by that time, complete his eight years in office. In the past, precisely, from 1999, former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju governed with the slot of Anambra South, Dr. Chris Ngige, also governed under Anambra Central, Mr. Peter Obi governed under Anambra Central too, while Governor Obiano is from Anambra North.

Reacting to this, a stakeholder in Anambra South, Mr. Walter Chigbo, said “for equity and peace to rain, Anambra South should be given a chance. Anambra Central has governed and Anambra North will complete its tenure by next year. So Anambra South has the rightful position and opportunity to produce a governor.”

Chigbo, who is also a farmer and the Chief Executive Officer, Nke-Onyemetalu Farm, revealed that Anambra South has a high quality of personalities to move the state forward.

Chigbo, who spoke during a phone interview, said the next Governor will sustain the tempo of excellence and quality governance which Gov Obiano has put in place.

“We have professors, successful and educated businessmen, vibrant youths with lofty ideas, men and women of integrity across all works of life. We have the capacity to transform Anambra to a global state,” Chigbo pointed.

Speaking on the achievements of the 7th Assembly lawmakers in the state, Chigbo disclosed that the members had recorded tremendous and unprecedented excellence in different aspects of commitments.

He commended the member representing Orumba North Local Government constituency, Hon Emeka Aforka, for attracting viable projects that would ensure healthy living.

“So far so good they are trying their best in uplifting the living standard of the people in their various constituencies.

“Their excellent performance had never been recorded in the past. I especially want to commend Hon Emeka Afforka for attracting the government’s presence in the area.

“We should not criticise them, but support them to actualise their dream purpose,” Chigbo added.
