2020 UTME: Be wary of cut off marks from fraudsters, JAMB warns candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates and parents to disregard any cut off marks paraded by fraudsters for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the examination body, the call for score upgrade remains a scam used by fraudsters to defraud gullible candidates and their parents.

This was contained on its weekly bulletin uploaded on its website on April 12, 2020.

While advising candidates and their parents against such act, the board added that any parents/candidates that engage in such act should be ready to face the full wrath of the law when caught.

“The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board wishes to advise parents, guardians and candidates in particular that there is nothing called ‘JAMB score upgrade.

“This has never existed and will never be condoned by the board.

“Parents/guardians and candidates alike are to note that the so-called score upgrade is simply a scam perpetrated by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting and gullible candidates, their parents or their guardians as the case may be,” it stated.

Meanwhile, the board has announced that it has temporarily suspended all activities requiring physical contacts in its offices and centres nationwide.

It noted that the development is in line with the professional advice of the Federal Government on safety of persons in relation to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

JAMB disclosed that the only avenue for communication and complaints will be through the free online service designed by the board.

“The board reminds the general public, especially candidates that the only avenue for communication, complaints and provision of support services is the ticketing platform which is free online service designed by the board to offer clarifications on sundry issues as well as other support services.

“This platform remains active and open at all times”, it added.
