2019 Polls: 135,000 PVCs not collected in Taraba – INEC

More than One hundred and thirty five thousand (135,000) Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) belonging to eligible voters from Taraba State for 2019 general elections are yet to be collected.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the State, Alh. Baba Abba Yusuf stated this during a Press Conference held Tuesday at INEC headquarters, Jalingo.

At the press briefing, which was on the display of preliminary register of voters, Alhaji Yusuf said Jalingo Local Government Area has the highest number of uncollected PVCs in the State.

He stated that the commencement of the display of preliminary register of voters would be from 6th to 12th November, 2018.

While lauding the efforts of Media practitioners in the State for their cooperation since he assumed office as the State Electoral Commissioner, Baba Yusuf said.

“Your various platforms have successfully disseminated the electoral activities of the Commission”.

Alh. Baba Yusuf further added that 6th to 12th display of voters register would afford the eligible voters the opportunity to check and raise claims and objections to the Register.

He disclosed further that the display, which will take place at all Polling Units across the State, is in line with the provision of section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).

“Those with complaints are to complain to a Revision Officer (REVO) at the Registration Area, he said.
