2019: A/Ibom PDP elders task Dankwambo on restructuring, onshore/offshore oil dichotomy

The eiders and leaders of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom state have charged presidential aspirant on the platform of PDP, Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo to consider restructuring Nigeria if elected into office as President in 2019.
The elders who gave the charge on Friday at the state party Secretariat along Edet Akpan Avenue Uyo, when Dankwamalso visited for consultation, urged the presidential aspirant and governor of Gombe state not to resurrect the issue of onshore/offshore oil dichotomy, which had been the cause of under-development in the country particularly the Niger Delta region.
Speaking, leader of PDP, Uyo senatorial district, and former military governor of Akwa Ibom state, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga lamented that the ruling APC is characterized by impunity and implored delegates to vote Dankwambo who has immunity to escape from antics of the APC.
Nkanga who is the Chairman of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), stressed that the state would support his ambition because he (Dankwambo) has immunity to get to the end without intimidation by the government power that is desperate to remain in power beyond 2019.
When you become the president of Nigeria, please restore democracy because never in the history of Nigeria did we have this level of impunity. Nigeria is very much in need of you. The foundation of Nigeria must be revisited.
“The South-south particularly wants Nigeria to be restructured. Recently even northern elders have joined us. Please ensure that you restructure Nigeria. It is not something that is just politically expedient, but it is morally compelling.”
Speaking, the Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel described Dr. Dankwambo as one of the best trained Nigerians, expressing the confidence that the party would pick a presidential candidate based on merit and not on sentiment.
He urged all presidential aspirants of PDP to however roll their wealth of experiences to support whoever emerges as candidate of the party, as only one person can win at a time and for one position.
Similarly Senator Anietie Okon described Dankwambo as a brilliant fellow and a man of honour, adding, “This has been a very corrupt regime. Akwa Ibom was never short-changed when Dankwambo managed the finance of this country”
Also speaking Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien said, “Do not revisit the already rested issue of offshore onshore oil dichotomy”.
Speaking, the PDP presidential hopeful, Ibrahim Alhaji Dankwambo said he was at the forefront for the fight to pull Nigeria out of debt burden as accountant General of the federation and fully prepared to drag Nigeria out of its present economic quagmire if given another chance.
He further recalled that he introduced treasury single account (TSA), payroll information management system and computerised 20 ministries under a PDP administration.
