2019 guber election: APC approves mode of primaries

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the mode of primary election to choose the party flag bearer in the 2019 election.

The party in a statement on Tuesday signed by Yekini Nabena, acting National Publicity Secretary said 19 States are to go for the indirect primary, while 17 States are for the direct primary.

The statement reads: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the mode of primaries for Saturday, September 29th, 2018 governorship primary elections scheduled to hold across the thirty-six states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)”.

The states are, Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Cross –River, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kano, Niger, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Taraba, Zamfara and the Federal capital Territory (FCT) will go for the direct primary mode, while Adamawa, Benue, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nsarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto and Yobe States will use the Indirect primary.

Meanwhile, the NWC has banned the Adamawa State Working Committee from participating either as delegates or superintendents over the governorship primaries holding in the state.

This, the party said, “Is due to the fact that the Adamawa state Working Committee was prejudiced in favour of a governorship aspirant”.
