2019: Group tasks Ebonyi APC on direct primaries
As the 2019 general election inches nearer, a group, under the aegis of Dozie Ebonyi has appealed to the leadership of the Ebonyi Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt direct primaries in selection of the party’s flag bearers.
The call was contained in a press statement issued on Wednesday in Abakaliki by the group and signed by its state director, Mr Godwin Igboke; the state secretary, Mr Elijah Nwamini, and the state Public Relations Officer, Mr Chidubem Egwu.
The group, which is a progressive movement within the Ebonyi APC said that direct primaries would afford registered party members the opportunity to participate in choosing candidates for the various elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
It noted that direct primaries reduce the usual rancour, acrimony that often trail indirect primary elections.
