2019: GPN partner youths to wrestle power

The Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) will partner with the youths of this country to wrest power from the dominant ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general polls in 2019.
This was revealed by the Rivers State Coordinator of the party, Mr Alphine Whyte. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Times last Friday in the party office in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, the state party coordinator criticized the change agenda of the ruling APC and said that, “Nigerians are thinking that the time has come for a proper change, not the shadow change that APC has given to us. Nigeria is looking forward to see a change that will bring progress and the slogan of our party is progress. We’re out to bring progress to this country; we’re out to change things in Rivers state and we’re out to change things in the 36 States in this country and the federal capital.”
On how his party would bring about this change, he replied, “we know that the youths have so much to offer in this country. The only problem about the youths is, there is no rallying point; there is nobody who can bring the youths together and give them a sense of belonging. What we have come to do is to engage the youths positively and to let them know that it is now or never.”
He added that, “we want to tell them that the time to change society is now; we want to tell them that the opportunity to showcase their potentials is now and that is what we are giving them. And we believe that as we partner with the youths, we can wrest power from the so called demi, those who have seen themselves as demi gods of this country. So, we think that by partnering with the youths, we can change this country. We can take power from PDP; we can take power from APC.”
Mr Alphine Whyte(JP) explained that the Green Party of Nigeria came into existence seven months ago when the popular movement led by Major Hamza Al Mustapha, the Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Sani Abacha merged with the Citizens Popular Party (CPP) and changed name to the Green Party of Nigeria.
