2019: 4 Assembly members, 5 aspirants, supporters dump APC for PRP

A member representing Bauchi Constituency in the state Assembly, Honourable Abdullahi Shehu has disclosed that four members currently serving in the Bauchi state House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have dumped the party for the People Redemption Party (PRP) in the state.
Honourable Shehu who made the disclosure while speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Sunday added that five aspirants and 300,000 APC members also left the party for PRP.
According to him, “I and other four members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly dumped the APC for good.
The lawmaker cited injustice and mandate theft in the APC during the conduct of direct primaries on October 7, as part of the reasons for dumping their party.
“Our people choose us to be their candidates but the party leadership refused to give us the mandate, so the next option for us was to opt out of the party,” Shehu said.
He mentioned lawmakers that defected alone with him to include the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Abdulmumini Fanti, Alkaleri constituency; Ibrahim Katagum, Katagum constituency; Auwal Hassan, Shira constituency, and Yusuf Nuhu, Toro constituency.
Honourable Nuhu is the member representing Toro in the State House of Assembly who recently won the by-election for Toro Federal Constituency on the platform of the APC.
Others who joined PRP to contest again according to Shehu, include two Senatorial aspirants under the APC that contested for Bauchi South and Bauchi Central senate tickets under the APC, Barrister Lawan Ibrahim and Bappah Misau adding that two ex-lawmakers, Abdulmumini Ningi and Dayyabu Chiroma have also defected to PRP.
“We defected along with 300,000 supporters to PRP to salvage the state”, the lawmaker said.
The PRP chairman in Bauchi, Alhaji Shehu Ningi who confirmed to journalists that the APC defectors have joined his party after they were denied their rights and cheated from their former party said Dr Mohammed Ali Pate,
the party’s governorship candidate in Bauchi State also left the APC and joined the PRP following the controversy which trailed its party primaries recently.
