2018 UTME: JAMB fixes March 9-17

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME for March 9 to 17

The Registrar of the board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who made this known Tuesday at a meeting with stakeholders in Abuja, said the mock examination initially scheduled to hold between January 22 and 24 has been moved to the first week in February due to the ongoing strike by non-teaching staff of universities.

The theme of the meeting is “Strategic planning on the conduct of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation.”

He said “We are unable to access our CBT centres because most of them are in the universities and non teaching staffs are on strike,”

“Regarding the sale of forms, about 10 per cent of the expected candidates have registered, the number of candidates that have registered now is about 283, 319,” .

The registrar also maintained that the prohibition of materials is applicable to candidates, supervisors and examiners.

“No candidates, examiners, invigilators will be allowed to enter the examination hall with wrist watches, pencils except HB pencils …and cameras” he said.

Recall that the board had earlier fixed the mock examination between January 22 and 27, with the application fee remaining N5000 while the cost of registration for foreign candidates has being slashed from over 100 dollars to 20 dollars.

The board also announced that sale of registration form from November 22 and to run till January 22, 2018.

Oloyede also hinted about several changes that would strengthen the credibility of the exam system to be witnessed by candidates in the course of the 2018 UTME exercise.
