20,055 students in 19 Tertiary Institutions, benefit from Senator Yari Scholarship scheme

The Senator representing Zamfara West senatorial districts, at the 10th Assembly, Dr. Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari has successfully awarded scholarship to 20,055 students in 19 Tertiary Institutions across the entire Northwestern Nigeria.

This was disclosed via press briefing with Journalists on Sunday in Gusau by the Chairman Media and publicity of the scholarship committee Alhaji Ibrahim Dan-Maliki Gidangoka

According to him, the significance of establishing the scholarship scheme was to contribute to educational development by sponsoring indigenous students and orphans in all the 14th Local Government Areas of Zamfara state.

When Senator Abdulaziz Yari conceived the idea of providing scholarship to 2, 055 Indigent and Orphan youths across the 14 Local Government Areas of the State as part of his sustained efforts towards educational development of his people, he assembled Education Planners, Researchers, Innovators, Academia, Administrators and Technocrats and entrusted them with the task of executing the project.

Swinging into immediately, the 14 Man inaugurated Committee of Senator A. A. YARI SCHOLARSHIP INITIATIVE, SAAYASI led by Senator Tijjani Yahaya MFR (Tafidan Kaura) appointed Co-ordinators and their Assistants in all the 14 Local Government Areas of the State who in collaboration with other critical stakeholders in their respective domains identified and scrutinized the applicants /candidates for placement under the Initiative.

After a careful selection, the 2,055 Successful Applicants / Candidates who got admission to study various First Degree and Middle Level Medical /Health related Courses in 15 Public and 3 Private Tertiary Institutions across North West Geo-Political Zone of the country beginning from 2024/2025 Academic Session are to enjoy the Scholarship under an outlined components approved by the committee such as, Registration and /or Tuition fees, and Monthly Stipend /upkeep Allowance for the Period of 4, 5, or 6 years of the Degree Program, depending on the Applicants’/Candidates’ Course of study.

The 2024/2025 Academic Session Registration and/or Tuition fees have been paid to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State University, Bayero University Kano, Aliko Dangote University of Science & Technology, Wudil, Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State University Talata Mafara, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Sokoto State University, Shehu Shagari University of Education Sokoto, Federal University of Agriculture Zuru, Federal University B/Kebbi, Abdullahi Fodiyo University of Science & Technology Aliero, Federal University Dutsinma, Umaru Musa Yar Adua University Katsina and Federal University of Transportation Daura and all the 1,704 Successful Applicants/Candidates Under the Initiative watch are academically slugging it out with their other Colleagues in such Public Institutions.

Similarly, 201 Successful Applicants /Candidates enjoying the Initiative Scholarship Components are Currently writing their Semester /Sessional Exams in the North West University, Sokoto, 50 Initiative Sponsored Students in Al-istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State are having a great deal of success in their studies while 101 other equally qualified Indigent /Orphan youths of Zamfara State extraction are also doing well in the Green Garden College of Health Sciences & Technology, Gusau.

While commending the initiator of this laudable project, Distinguished Senator Dr. Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari (Marafan Sokoto), my esteemed colleagues on the Committee, their Local Government Area Assistants and the Critical Stakeholders for their understanding, co- operation, hard work, diligence, sincerity, patience and perseverance through out the stages of the exercise that culminated into this positive result, it’s our ardent hope and prayer that the beneficiaries of this lofty idea will do everything humanly possible to justify the confidence reposed in them.
