20 Opposition parties bemoan Zamfara APC crisis
No fewer than 20 opposition political parties in Zamfara state have expressed concern over the inability of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) to resolve its internal crisis and filled candidates for upcoming election.
Reacting to the release of Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates in the state with APC candidates missing, the parties noted that contest without the ruling APC would be a set back to the democracy and electorate.
Spokesman of the concern opposition political parties and chairman of Democratic Alternative Party (DAP), Alhaji Sulaiman Abubakar said the action of the APC stakeholders in the state was detrimental to democratic culture.
According to him, in democracy, there should be a spirit of dialogue and amicable resolution of disagreements in the selection of positions.
Abubakar stated that, the parties as key players opined that, APC should have a second thought on the nomination of candidates, especially for Governorship.
According to him, instead of dragging on Sen. Marafa, Mukhtar Shehu and Dauda Lawal, APC should have think of people like Him. Aminu Sani Jaji as an option.
“We stakeholders in the contest but notwithstanding, we have to be worried that APC is engulfed in crisis and offer advice as the way forward”, he added.
The parties said recommending Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji was just to solve the problem as Sen. Mafara’s faction and Governor Yari’ faction would agree with Jaji as an alternative.
