2 men in court over alleged electrical cable theft

Two men, Otache Edoh, 25, and Solomon Egegben, 20, on Monday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing electrical cable valued at N1million.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Oct. 21, at about 3:30 a.m., at Industrial Estate, Ota.
Adaraloye said that the defendants conspired among themselves to enter into Sun Metal Company, Industrial Estate, to steal electrical cable.
He said the defendants were caught by local security and handed over to the police.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Adeyemi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the sureties must resides within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She then adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for further hearing.(NAN)
