PDP chairmanship: Dokpesi booed in Kogi by party youths

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship aspirant, Chief Raymond Dokpesi had the rough side of members of the party in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on Monday as he was booed at the Confluence town by irate PDP youths after consultation with delegates at the PDP secretariat.
Dokpesi who was in Lokoja in continuation of his campaign for the chairmanship of his party incurred the ire of the youths for his late arrival and refusal to address them as veritable stakeholders of the party.
The aspirant who arrived Lokoja at about 8.15 pm, gave some unconvincing reasons for keeping them on standby for over 8 hours, apologised for the unnecessary delay urging them to keep faith with the party.
Addressing the few party Executive Committee of the State and the delegates headed by the Deputy Chairman, Hon Sam Abenemi, Dokpesi said that the entire Kogi delegates should consider his role in the 2015 election in the state, pointing out that he was the only one among the aspirants that supported PDP in Kogi State.
The aspirant therefore reminded them of his role in the installation of two governors, Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada as well as the last Presidential election of 2015.
He claimed to have marshaled necessary resources to ensure victory of the party in the previous elections and therefore urged them to pay back.
Abenemi assured the aspirant that the Kogi chapter of the party will continue to be loyal to the party and has not adopted any aspirant for tor the chairmanship and wished the aspirant good luck.
While departing the premises of the PDP secretariat of the party, the youths booed and attacked supporters of Dokpesi.
Some of the youths were heard in hushed discussions saying that how can Dokpesi, who cannot pay his AIT staff be chairman of the party.
