A total of 122 aspirants from the eight Local Government areas of Bayelsa state have been screened to contest for the 24 seats in the State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), primaries, as three aspirants fail the screening.

Out of the numbers cleared 17 aspirants are incumbent lawmakers while the remaining 105 are first timers by the result pasted by the party at the secretariat in Yenagoa.

Southern Ijaw Local Government Area has the highest number of 37 aspirants and 16 from a single constituency where the current speaker of the house is representing.
