1 dies, another sustains injury in Imo

Luck could not shine on a young man popularly known as “Mba”, who worked in the day time as tout, at Aguneze junction and Afor Ogbe area, as he was trying to steal a generating set at a welder’s shop.

Mba, was practically loosing the big generator with his tools, around 3am in the morning Thursday, October 18, when the vigilante group on duty saw him.

On sighting them, he ran away but they shot him on his legs, and caught him. He was held by the vigilante group till 6am in the morning when the Ahiazu Mbaise police officers came with their hilux van and took him to a nearby hospital.

When Daily Times reporter arrived the scene, many people there, identified the young man as “Mba” whose real name is Donald Chikaodi.

The owner of the shop, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwaru said, the machine is the only valuable thing he has in his shop; he thanked the vigilante group for their efforts in apprehending the thief.

In another development, a young man, Julius, was offloading a trailer loaded with cement around 12noon on Thursday October 18, at Umuariam Obowo L.G.A when fainted and collapsed. He was rushed to the nearest hospital, but few hours later, he died. His colleagues said, he had complained of hunger but they didn’t consider it a serious issue.

Daily Times correspondent confirmed from the driver of the trailer that the young man’s unexpected fall was a shock to everyone around.
