‎Oke laments rate of poverty among youths ‎

A candidate Into the House of Representatives from Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has expressed displeasure with the increasing rate of unemployment in the country.

The ‎Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate said during his campaign tour.

Oke said he was worried that majority of Nigerian youths were grossly unemployed.

To carter for this, he assured that empowerment of youths would be his prime focus if elected in the March 28th National Assembly election.

“No youth should be idle because at their age, they are the hub of the nation and the pillars upon which the nation’s structure is anchored,” he said.

Oke, who was the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, House of Representatives between 2003 and 2011 explained that he had already put a vocational training in tailoring, carpentry, driving and tiling among others in place.

He said, “At the risk of sounding immodest, God has blessed me. He transformed me, and brought me to the limelight. As a son of poor peasant I grew up to be well educated and librated from poverty. Today, I have no fewer that 1,000 people working for me.

“I know what poverty means and that is why I am all out to always be in the vanguard of those clamouring for total war against poverty. I am committed to programmes that will empower our youths and make life more meaningful to them.”

He also warned electorates to be careful of pseudo democrats who were all out to deceive them.

He urged them to stoutly defend their votes by being extra vigilant on the day of election to avoid stealing of their votes
